Michael Crichton’s novel opens on the threshold of the twenty-first century. It is a world of exploding advances on the frontiers of technology. Information moves instantly between two points, without wires or networks. Computers are built from single molecules. Any moment of the past can be actualized - and a group of historians can enter, literally, life in fourteenth-century feudal France. Imagine the risks of such a journey.
Not since Jurassic Park has Michael Crichton given you such a magnificent adventure. Here, he combines a science of the future - the emerging field of quantum technology - with the complex realities of the medieval past. In a heart-stopping narrative, Timeline carries you into a realm of unexpected suspense and danger, overturning your most basic ideas of what is possible.

@William: Usenet is how files were shared back in the day before even Napster. They were like a network of forums on every conceivable topic. This issue with Usenet is that it requires CENTRALIZED private servers connected to and sharing with other private servers to propagate content. You connect to them with a separate client. It costs money to keep these servers running and so there are very few free servers anymore. Also, space is limited on these servers so older stuff gets dropped off in a matter of weeks to a couple of months. Expect to pay a monthly fee of $15-$25. The higher prices are usually associated with longer storage of content and better connection speed. It’s not any safer or better than torrenting. The only advantage is that, as long as content is stored, you don’t have to worry about there being enough seeders.
Google for “List of Usenet Servers”
In most cases you use the client that you downloaded from this site to search for and download “Binaries”. Which is what content is usually called on “News Groups”. If you can figure out how to make your client connect to the server. There are fancy new web based Usenet clients that don’t require a separate client but cost just as much or more.
