I’m not familiar with this writer, but will look up more of his work. This story left me haunted, no other word for it. Much like Stephan King’s 11/22/63, this is a cautionary tale about the choices we make, and how we so often forget that history is made by highly fallible people. As a Great war history fan, I’ve often felt that Americans don’t study this war nearly as deeply as we should. If we did so, we would see how an otherwise mediocre individual changed the world in ways that still shape this morning’s news. Excellent story.
