I liked Altered Carbon a lot…didn’t care for the tv show too much tho.
HIs other books haven’t gotten great reviews though so I’ve stayed away but thought I’d give this one a try.
That being said the book Thirteen that he wrote before Thin Air was the introduction to a shared universe both books are written in…so if you haven’t read Thirteen, you might want to do that first.
Then again I haven’t read Thirteen and I’m currently listening to Thin Air first lol.

The fiasco of Netflix’s Altered Carbon should not keep people from reading everything he’s written. While I haven’t always agreed with his ideas, he is a talented novelist with a vision of justice for the human race. Not only has he built realistic worlds by extrapolating conceivable technological advances, but he has also portrayed the ways that people will continue to use technology, for the most part as guided by the cultural and social norms of the world they live in.

His fantasy works are even better than his sci-fi. They are both original and challenging in that they break stereotypes and force the reader out of their safe comfort zones. You don’t have to agree or be on the same “team” as a character to be drawn into and enthralled by the created world of the author’s imagination. I am not crazy about this series and wish that he would go back to his grimdark fantasy setting be asap.
