Dramatization
I was recently, in the comments of my last torrent in fact, accused of uploading ‘fake’ content because the BBC radio drama that I had downloaded from the BBC, edited off the continuity announcer and then saved as MP3 had not come from Amazon’s Audible IT MUST BE FAKE.
You read that right, the BBC programme that I got from the BBC was fake because it was not from Audible. I’ll let how stupid that is sink in.
To Goomer I say, this torrent is not just fake, it doesn’t exist.
You can’t buy this stuff at Audible because they don’t sell it.
This is not for you, please make love elsewhere.
For everyone else,
Two classic science-fiction short stories by Frederik Pohl both with thematic links on the dangers of rampant consumerism.
The source was BBC Sounds 320kbps M4A
There are two versions of each story, standard stereo & enhanced for headphones with crossfeed - [XF]
The stereo copy of Midas Plague is the original 320kbps download, the others were reencoded FDK VBR 5
THE MIDAS PLAGUE, dramatised by Mark Power.
In the future, the poorest citizens have the most things.
People have to spend most of their waking hours consuming and wearing out what the robots have produced.
Only the most successful are allowed to live a simple life of moderate consumption.
Morey Fry discovers a way out, but it means breaking the law…
Frederik Pohl’s futuristic short story, first published in 1954 in US magazine ‘Galaxy Science Fiction’.
Morey Fry …. Michael Drew
Cherry Fry …. Dyanne White
Howland …. Alan Covenay
Henry/Porfirio …. Geoffrey Collins

Tanaquil …. Catherine Neal
Directed at BBC Bristol by Alec Reid.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in September 1991.
The BBC artwork for this misspelled Frederik Pohl’s name. I fixed it, but it looks a little janky.
THE TUNNEL UNDER THE WORLD, dramatised by Mike Walker.
Guy Buckhardt wakes each morning after the same terrifying dream.
But each day the terror is soothed away with special offers and an abundance of consumer goods.
Then one day, he begins to remember a little more…
Frederik Pohl’s perceptive sci-fi tale, first published in 1955.
Guy Buckhardt …. William Hope
Mary Buckhardt…. Laurel Lefkow
Stanley Swanson …. Bob Sherman
April Horne …. Beth Chalmers

Sarah …. Jasmine Hyde
Director: Ned Chaillet
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in December 2000.

Feel better now?

“Feel better now?”
Being a regular uploader here yourself, you aught to know better than to falsely accuse another uploader of uploading fake content but you did it anyway.
When I and others called you out for it in the comments section, instead of apologizing or deleting the untrue accusation you ghosted.
Popping up in the comments to say thanks for a recording that was created the same way as, how did you put it, oh yes

So it’s fake version of the book? Would have saved me some trouble if you’d said that instead of trying to make it look like a real book.”

Thanks mate! Great work and much appreciated. Ignore the moronic trolls. They share nothing and complain about anything, essentially wasting oxygen and space.

Thanks!!
Ps think goomer just had a bad day and misread or something - his thank you might not have quite been an apology but none of its worth forming a grudge over - ur both good posters and are much appreciated
