Book 2 of The Survivalist Series
No electricity. No running water. No food. No end in sight. If life as you knew it changed in an instant, would you be prepared?
In A. American’s first novel, Going Home, readers were introduced to Morgan Carter, the resourceful, tough-as-nails survivalist who embarks on a treacherous 250-mile journey across Florida following the collapse of the nation’s power grid. Now reunited with his loving wife and daughters in this follow-up to Going Home, Morgan knows that their happiness is fleeting, as the worst is yet to come. Though for years Morgan has been diligently preparing for emergency situations, many of his neighbors are completely unready for life in this strange new world—and they’re starting to get restless.
With the help of his closest companions, Morgan fights to keeps his home secure—only to discover shocking information about the state of the nation in the process.
Fans of James Wesley Rawles, William R. Forstchen’s One Second After, and The End by G. Michael Hopf will revel in A. American’s apocalyptic tale.

I bought this from AUDIBLE as a 32kps file. I removed the DRM, encoding and post it here, to the Internet library, unadulterated. Ripping it to a higher (and uselessly destructive) bit rate degrades the quality. PERIOD.
Spread the word. It’s bit cancer awareness month.

Thanks nunyabizz, I already have this book and loved it, but thanks for spreading the word with me about bitrates/sample rates! Together we can stop this upconverting bullshit I see all over this site!

Well nunyabizz, I am pretty sure you ripped this wrong despite my comments above (I still mean them). An exact rip of this audiobook based on Audible’s “Level-4″ quality levels would make both files come in at a TOTAL of 194Mb…NOT 356Mb like your is. Your rip was clearly not converted at 32bps/22050hz MONO (what Audible’s source rates are, because I made an exact audio copy of this audiobook as well, even double checked it by downloading it from Audible again and checked the file sizes. Try using dBpoweramp to convert, if not using it already. You can set exact specific bitrates/samplerates, etc. And you get an exact unadulterated copy of the source file in MP3. Just saying :)

Sorry guys, this was my first rip with SoundTaxi; got in a hurry (it was 1 A.M.)and I didn’t check. I know for a fact that I selected 32k for output but apparently that’s not what I got. Also, thanks for all suggestions, from everyone. We all benefit.
I’ve been using a PC to PC real-time recording using “Audacity” to record/edit and “FreeMake Audio Converter” to change formats/rates/quality (as needed). freemake seems to work really well, if you remember to use it. I’ll give dbpower amp a try also. Thanks Beetlejuice :)

I’ll fix this and package all 3 together in a trilogy tonight.

Yeah bro, if your just converting “Level-4″ audible files use dBpoweramp for sure. My laptop is about 7 years old and I ran convert a normal 10 hour audible audiobook with dbpoweramp in about 7 minutes flat. No waiting all day to convert either bro…it is the beez kneez.
