how come it stops after nine hours ? it gets to that mark then goes back to zero but keeps playing still

You can fix that by reconverting it with “Fre ac” just be sure to set “options” to 32kbs, mono, 22.05kHz. That will correct the time stamp issue.

This books plays fine on all other players but many people have problems with certain rips when using iTunes. Are you?
There is probably an error in the mp3 header. You can rewrite the MP3 header by opening and re-saving (control-W)in MP3DirectCut. That rewrites the header and fixes any anomalies, without any quality loss. Thanks to Gweilo for this fix. ♥
