A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook
Helbrecht sees a future of the Imperium renewed and free of the Ruinous Powers. Yet when he must form an unpalatable alliance with the Leagues of Votann, he questions if it is worth the sacrifice to heal what damage has been done to the Imperium.
LISTEN BECAUSE
Experience what happens when High Marshal Helbrecht of the Black Templars fights to find his place in a changed order. Just how far is this zealous yet pragmatic warrior willing to go?
THE STORY
Driven by duty and faith, Helbrecht glimpses what might yet be: an Imperium wholly renewed. But the risk is great, for in order to seize such a prize he must rally his Chapter and the Elysian troops of the Astra Militarum against the unholy terrors of the Ruinous Powers.
When fate – or providence – grants the High Marshal a distasteful ally in the Leagues of Votann, he must ask himself what he is willing to forsake in the pursuit of triumph. Helbrecht knows the meaning of sacrifice well, but rekindling this ancient glory may push him to the very brink.

my thanks to the poster for this.
while it’s a good yarn, there is one thing really, really wrong with this story and that is the writing pertaining to the fights between humans and space marines against the votann.
in the 40k universe, normal, unaugmented, adult humans are equivalent to modern adult humans in height.
space marines are anywhere between a low end of 6 feet 9 inches in height, this being the case for the Alpha Legion and as tall as 8 feet 8 inches for the Sons of Antaeus, but the “average” height for space marines, depending on source material, is 7 feet 5 inches.
i mention this because the average height for a Squat, Votann or Demiurge, unaugmented, is 3 feet and 3 inches, or 1 meter. Augmented Squats, Votann and Demiurge can get as tall as 4 feet 9 inches, with some getting to 5 feet tall with the use of cybernetic limb replacements.
i mention this because there is a fight between High Marshall Helbrecht and a Votann hero and it’s written as if they’re both of equal height.
High Marshall Helbrecht is 8 feet and 3 inches.
the Votann hero is tall for a Votann at 3 feet 8 inches.
it took me a couple or rewinds to figure out that the author is describing these two fighting each other.

Interesting point jay, but I dont see it really being a problem, as the Voltan can still fight, although outmatched. I wouldnt have given one star over that.
