Unabridged
In his first-ever Doctor Who novel, Tom Baker’s incredible imagination is given free rein. A story so epic it was originally intended for the big screen, Scratchman is a gripping, white-knuckle thriller almost 40 years in the making.
The Doctor, Harry and Sarah Jane Smith arrive at a remote Scottish island when their holiday is cut short by the appearance of strange creatures - hideous scarecrows who are preying on the local population. The islanders are living in fear, and the Doctor vows to save them all. But it doesn’t go to plan - the time travellers have fallen into a trap, and Scratchman is coming for them.
With the fate of the universe hanging in the balance, the Doctor must battle an ancient force from another dimension, one who claims to be the devil. Scratchman wants to know what the Doctor is most afraid of. And the Doctor’s worst nightmares are coming out to play….
Tom Baker himself reads this legendary Doctor Who adventure, a spine-chilling thriller 40 years in the making.

Why are all the edits combined into one long continuous unburnable track impossible to listen to in a car’s CD player?!?!
January 25th, 2019
Most of us have adapters, usb ports or auxillery jacks in our cars so we can plug in our phones and use an app to play those one long mp3 or m4b files. Let me put it this way i havent used a cd in my car since 2005 before i owned a smart phone. Of course if you have to have cds there are lots of free apps that will open an m4b file and save the chapters into individule mp3 files for burning just search google.

jfk WELCOME TO 2019

Some cars don’t even come with cd players anymore.
January 25th, 2019
Or… You could buy the CD.
Don’t complain about something you’re not paying for.

Does your car CD player play MP3 discs? I think my last one did, haven’t tried my current one since I use it very little. If you go from m4b to mp3 file, that should have you additional steps in making a regular audio CD

I love the m4b file, it works perfect on Windows Player PotPlayer or macos player, even the iOS has nPlayer, which combined with chapters.
If you want to listen the file on mp3 format, please do it by yourself.
Find a mp3 converter on the Internet.
It’s easy to complain, and very difficult to admit self laziness.

Thanks for this, but I wish you had it on wax cylinder.

Thanks for this - but I can’t play it on my record player. Can’t believe you’re sharing it in this format! Geez! :p

My 8-track doesn’t play this format. Guess I’ll have to enjoy it a different way.
Thanks sooo much, Whackbag, for sharing this. That was super quick!

Certainly JFK has been kicked enough,… but,… yeah,… they are free.
I WOULD complain, instead THANK YOU for downloading this.
January 25th, 2019
That was quick as it was just released!
Not many people use their existing vehicle CD player anymore but many vehicles may either have an audio port or Bluetooth feature as part of their vehicle’s audio function.
It’s free so enjoy!
Thank you!

Thanks for this one!!!

Thanks whackbag for yet another perfect share in a perfect format, dont ever change it.
Some ppl are not lucky either to have a new car with BT and AUX input so they’re stuck with only a CD player, although even CD players do mp3.
On saying that, be thankful you are even getting this in any format and if it’s not in the format you want, convert it to wantever you want w/o whining, this is a unconverted copy of the original, the best you’d find unless you go buy the CD yourself.
Thx again

I, too add my thanks for this and my disdain for complaints.
8 hours of audio on a cd?? How low would the bitrate have to be?!
January 26th, 2019
Thanks for another great one.
Another trick you can use, record it on to a long-play vhs tape. Thats 6-10 hrs of audio u can get, depending on the tape. Just pop it into your VCR and listen through the mono TV speaker. Use to do it all the time.

@JFKeaton95 & flarecat777 - your tears are delicious so keep weeping, ladies.

Thanks for this, Tom Baker reading it as well is a added bonus.

Thanks for this!
It took me about an hour to write a python program that breaks it up into five minute tracks, each named with the start and end times. Old walkmans can be very slow fast forwarding. And very easy to push the play button wrong so it starts from the beginning. Not good if you’re in the middle of an 8 hour audiobook. That solves the CD problem as well. If you want to do it manually just use avconv and say, “avconv -i bigfile.mp3 -acodec copy -vn -ss 00:00:00 -t 01:00:00 part1.mp3″ to break it into one hour pieces, for example. Repeat, bumping the start time by the length you made the previous part.

#!/bin/bash
while [ $# -gt 0 ]; do
/usr/bin/ffmpeg -i “$1″ 2> tmp.txt
while read -r first _ _ start _ end; do
if [[ $first = Chapter ]]; then
read
read _ _ chapter
/usr/bin/ffmpeg -i “$1″ -ss “${start%?}” -to “$end” -vn -ar 44100 -ac 2 -b:a 64k -acodec libmp3lame -f mp3 “${1%.*}-$chapter.mp3″ </dev/null
fi
done <tmp.txt
rm tmp.txt
shift
done

I use the above bash script. It will split the file into chapters while it is converting the M4B to an MP3. Replace FFMPEG with AVCONV if needed or the bit rate to your preference.

Awesome! Thank you! Looking forward to this one.
January 28th, 2019
Excellent. Thank you for putting this up so fast.

Whats a CD player????
June 7th, 2019
My car is a classic and has a CASSETTE player (way before CD), I went to Best Buy and got a cassette adapter for smartphone so I can hear them and it sounds wonderful, there are many options out there don´t be lazy and figure something out.

You can break it up to chapters with a free “freemp4 to mp3″ program on net somewhere. Too lazy to look for the link, sorry ! LOL
