Landing on Earth, now a barren, desolate planet, Sarah, Harry and the Fourth Doctor are unaware of the large, watching robot. The robot is the work of Styre, a Sontaran warrior, who uses all humans landing here for his experimental programmes.
What has happened to the other space explorers who have come here? Why is the Sontaran scout so interested in Earth and is brutally torturing humans, including Sarah Jane? Will the Doctor, be able to prevent an invasion and certain disaster, and save both Earth and his companions?

Thank Ya, Thank Ya, Thank Ya, you’re a legend.

Thank you so much for sharing person whose user name looks like a randomly-generated password. I’ve read so few of the novelizations, and this is a story I’m sentimentally fond of.

How do you work out your numbering system for these. Most are pretty straight forward, like the Past and New Series Adventures, they match up pretty good to the wiki pages about those series of books. But these DW Novelizations, this one and Claws of Axos and New Adventures, New Anthologies, how is the ordering worked out or can you point me to the webpages you use as references.
Thanks and hope it’s not too much to ask.

Whens the edit button gonna happen?
I just worked this out, i think. This was from the 12th series Ep. 03, hence 12.03. What confused me was in another wiki page it was, No.77. But that also makes sense as it was the 77th episode in the Classic Series. Still not sure about the New Anthologies, and your ref. links would be great as well.
Thanks again for all your generosity.

@jsmithers,
You are probably going to be even more confused when I tell you that this SHOULD be number 56. This is numbered as 56 by Target Publisher in their Doctor Who Library. Although chronologically it was the 55th novel to be released in this line. They were initially given numbers in early 1983 and the numbers were assigned alphabetically (1-73) and then chronologically thereafter, starting with *Time-Flight*, the first Fifth Doctor adaptation to be released.
Speaking for myself, I use the wikipedia pages for initial research, and then look at the Doctor Who Wikia and other sources to see if there is controversy about numbering.

(Oh crap, I forgot to include the phrase “I think you’ll find…”)

Thanks to W3tXwiQV7HGwAg. Greatly appreciate your continuing generosity.
:D
A couple of days ago, someone uploaded Moving Target, last month’s Torchwood, but then deleted it yesterday. Did anyone manage to get it before it disappeared who’d be willing to re-upload? Thanks!

Thx DarkerEyes for making it even more confusing lol.
Thats the same link I used as well, together with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Doctor_Who_serials
and all the other linking webpages inc DW Wikia.
For the novelized Classic DW Eps, I’ll use [Season No.Ep No.] eg [12.03] like this one. The Target numbering is out of whack but I’ll still use it for some, that don’t fit anywhere else, I suppose. But then what happens when DW 2005 starts, do they continue with 157 onwards or start again with [Series No-Ep No], so then Classic Season 01 would be clashing with 2005 Serial 01. I give up, just made myself more confused again. Problem is, it doesn’t really matter to most but I need order, be it audiobooks, music, movies etc.

jsmithers: It’s the novelisation of Doctor Who Season 12, serial 3. When something is an adaptation of another story, I always organise it as if it is that story. That way the soundtrack reconstructions of Doctor Who episodes are sorted with audiobook novelisations like this one in order, and New Adventures audiobooks are sorted with Big Finish adaptations of New Adventures.
I number the New Adventures as [1 or 2.actual number] based on whether they’re Doctor Who or Bernice Summerfield New Adventures.
I number “New Series Anthologies” based on release order. It’s not exactly a real series with a title, but they’ve now published four or five New Who short story anthologies, and this way they can be grouped together and ordered.
I also use decimal point numbers for numbering specials in a series that isn’t in seasons. “The Glamour Chase” is actually New Series adventures #42, and is followed by an unnumbered special, The Coming of the Terraphiles. I number them 42.01 and 42.02. If the series has seasons, so I’m already using decimal points, I just add specials into the numbering. So Jago & Litefoot [04.05] is “Behind the Scenes” and Jago & Litefoot [04.06] is “Voyage to Venus.”
I number “UNIT - The New Series” as a continuation of previous Big Finish UNIT stuff. So the original UNIT series they did is Series 1, UNIT: Dominion is Series 2, UNIT: Extinction is Series 3, UNIT: Shutdown is Series 4, etc.
I number Dark Eyes and Doom Coalition as part of Big Finish’s The Eighth Doctor Adventures, so Dark Eyes (number one) is The Eighth Doctor Adventures Series 5 and Doom Coalition 1 is The Eighth Doctor Adventures Series 9. I treat the actual box set title (”Dark Eyes 3″, “Doom Coalition 2″) the same as any other season title, like “Legion,” “Missing Persons,” and “The Triumph of Sutekh,” from Bernice Summerfield.
I organise the Torchwood audio dramas from Big Finish as a continuation of the Torchwood audio dramas (not audiobooks) from BBC.
The actual format where I put the numbering in brackets after the series name comes from Calibre, which I use to organise my ebooks.
Hope that clears things up :)

Thank for clearing things up, now I can sort my collection in a similar matter. Great explanation, I suppose I should of asked in the forum and it could have been made a sticky there, if you haven’t already that is.
Cheers
John S
PS An extra 5 stars for your response to my question.
