This is the complete new series in the Companion Chronicles of Second Doctor adventures.
I admit that I have not been a big fan of the First and Second Doctor adventures. I think that someone could stand in for Patrick Troughton. He’s been dead a long time. Also, the Third Doctor boxset with someone else playing the Doctor was much better than any of the First and Second Doctor adventures out there.
I give this 5 out of 10 stars. I wish they would just explore newer ideas in these old stories. Why not have the Second Doctor meet up with some “New Who” monsters? Why do these rely on narrative story telling when they could be better with someone as the Doctor?
Pat Troughton did not have that distinctive a voice like Tom Baker does(going strong at age 82!). If they want to tell new stories of the Second Doctor, then we desperately need more than surviving companions sounding bored reading their scripts. That the actor is long dead and can be replaced is a sign of respect and better stories.
The Third Doctor boxset is a much better example of telling Early Doctor stories. Time to find a good Pat Troughton voice actor and inject some energy in this series! Uneven, boring, and simply not interesting!

Appreciate the share, thank you!

I couldn’t disagree more with the review here. These stories are terrific, and Frazer Hines does an amazing Troughton impression. Not all stories are for everyone, but to call them uninteresting and the actors bored makes me wonder if we’re listening to two totally different sets of stories.

They do the Early Adventures, where Frazer Hines really does play the Doctor. The Companion Chronicles are still going because a lot of people really like the format.

Big thanks for your efforts with this and all the other torrents you have supplied!

I don’t suppose you have the music suite that came with this audio? I and many other would really like to hear it. This would be very much appreciated if you do this.

I should just like to say that I recognise Patrick Toughton’s, distinctive, voice as easily as that of Tom Baker.
Perhaps it depends on how much we hear a voice.
Hearing a wrong voice for a character would definitely decrease my enjoyment. Perhaps yonger people wouldn’t know the difference.
Thank you for posting this.

Like Darkereyes said and I agree couldn’t be a worse review especially since I have listened to them all. First, Second, and Third Doctor Early Adventures and for the most part these stories are all told in the same fashion (Narrative Information, Dialogue between characters, and the Sounds that bring that adventures story to life) So not only was It a negative review that was unfounded but, the one point the reviewer tries to make to defend his view (Third Doctor having a new cast member that sounds and fills the doctors role instead of a companion filling in for their doctor) isn’t even a good one and actually doesn’t really make sense… I thought they where terrific and Frazier’s second doctor is perfectly Patrick Troughton. I’d say 8.5 or 9 out of 10 rather than 5 out of 10.

Such a shame this is only 128 kbps.
It makes it harder to enjoy the beautiful music and eloquently told stories.
I’d rather the uploader put time into making this 256kbps instead of delivering their personal review.
Most importantly, thank you for uploading this set for everyone to enjoy. Don’t take my criticism too harshly, I’m very grateful that you generously gave your time to share these stories.

Couldn’t disagree more. Troughton has one of the most distinctive voices and Hines does a wonderful job of capturing that. My rule of thumb is f if you are critical of Troughton then you truly don’t get Doctor Who and have no right to be calling yourself a fan.
